We’re Joel and Raquel, the artists behind Grey Alters.

Joel: When I was very young, my mother bought me a Warhammer box along with some supermarket acrylic paints. I didn’t know it at the time, but that’s where something began that would change the way I see the world forever. I grew more and more fond of painting until the day an old friend introduced me to Magic. What can I say, it captivated me, I loved it, and that excitement and that spark are still with me to this day. Along the way, I’ve discovered other TCGs like Lorcana, which have made the cardboard journey even more beautiful and enjoyable. Throughout all this, I’ve always enjoyed altering my own decks, and after painting cards for all my friends at the store I used to frequent, I decided to share my work with the world, and that’s how GreyAlters was born.

Raquel: Certified illustrator and full-time live artist at events. I was never too interested in TCGs until I met Joel. Painting Lorcana cards became our favorite couple’s hobby, and I got so into it that I ended up altering my entire Lorcana deck. Fun fact: we got married and spent our whole honeymoon playing Lorcana on a cruise.
Now I support Joel with some alters, especially those with anime or manga themes. It makes me happy to team up with my husband to bring your cards to life.
